Childhood Obesity Diabetes

childhood obesity diabetes
How does childhood obesity causes type 2 diabetes?

being obese means you have more fatty tissue, having more fatty tissue causes the body to become insulin resistant and becoming insulin resistant causes the body to put on more weight.. become more resistant and so on and so forth.. at a certain level of resistance, it becomes known as diabetes … so, keep the fat down and muscle up (more muscle lowers insulin resistance) and it will lower the chances of diabetes… I’m assuming this is the kind of answer you want and not a chemistry lesson?

“childhood obesity” asthma, diabetes, allergies, “food allergies”, adhd, behavior problems

The Stigma of Childhood Obesity: A Literature Review.

The Stigma of Childhood Obesity: A Literature Review.

$115.71

Research is consistent in demonstrating high prevalence rates of obesity for adult and child populations in the United States and around the world, and such rates continue to increase. While the physical heath consequences of obesity are well documented, potential mental health issues related to the obesity stigma are less well known. This review explores the stigma of childhood obesity in an effort to better understand the phenomenon. The research unambiguously indicates that Americans of all ages hold prejudicial attitudes and beliefs associated with obesity, and readily discriminate against those who are obese. Consequently, this review also discusses ways to prevent obesity, intervene with those children who are already obese, and aid children in managing obesity stigma. Clinical applications of obesity stigma research, as well as considerations for future research, are also proposed. : The past two decades have seen an explosive increase in the number of people diagnosed with diabetes mellitus worldwide, particularly type 2 diabetes (T2D), which is found associated with modern lifestyle, abundant nutrient supply, reduced physical activity, and obesity. Actually, between 60 and 90 of cases of T2D now appear to be related to obesity. Numerous studies have shown that insulin resistance precedes the development of hyperglycemia in subjects that eventually develop T2D. There are lots of chemical agents available to control and to treat diabetic patients, but total recovery from diabetes has not been reported up to this date. Alternative to these synthetic agents, plants provide a potential source of hypoglycemic drugs and are widely used in several traditional systems of medicine to prevent diabetes. Several natural compounds have been investigated for their beneficial use in different types of diabetes. The Economics of Obesity

The Economics of Obesity

$196.13

Obesity, which has increased in most developed countries in the past few decades, is the result of genetics, environment, and individual choices. Economics is useful for studying the individual choices that lead to obesity, explanations for the recent rise in obesity, the treatment options for obesity, and the costs and consequences of obesity for the individual and society. The papers in this volume, devoted to the economics of obesity, illustrate the wide usefulness of the economic approach. The papers in the first section propose and test economic explanations for foodconsumption choices and obesity. In particular, they assess the impact of food quality, access to fast food, food prices, legislation, and other factors on diet, physical activity, and body weight. Treatments for obesity, specifically bariatric surgery and antiobesity drugs, are studied in the second section of this volume. The third section is devoted to the labor market impacts of obesity; evidence from fifteen countries is presented and evaluated. The fourth and final section calculates the impact of obesity on hospital costs and examines the externalities imposed by obesity through health insurance. Taken together, the papers in this volume advance the frontier of knowledge about the causes, implications, and consequences of obesity, and validate the usefulness of the economic approach for studying obesity in particular and medical conditions more generally.
